This is Mary Apiata with Mr AJ Alistair Holmes our Deputy Mayor of Kawerau. First & foremost Mary is a Grandmother, a part time worker and one who raises her mokopuna (grandchild) that attends Tarawera High-school. Mary was so excited and pleased when she completed the computers in homes programme, as it was her first time in a learning environment sitting in a classroom.
Mary says: In the beginning I didn't even know what an email was and what it was used for. I only heard of Facebook but have never looked at it. I wanted to learn about the Internet & how to upload my family pictures onto my computer.
Katahi Haturini has a daughter who attends Te Whata Tau o Putauaki. Katahi & her partner were planning there wedding before the CIH programme had started. At the time of completing the
Computers in homes training, katahi expressed how she couldnt wait for her internet to be up-and-running. Her partner used this open opportunity to find part time employment this year using the Internet and computer.
